Few New Products Certified Halal Drinks

Of the millions of beverage products that circulate in Indonesia, just thousands of them who received kosher certification from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

This was revealed by the Executive Director of the Research Institute for Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI LPPOM) Lukman Hakim when found in the socialization MUI halal certification on non-alcoholic beverage products in Building Center MUI,

"Only very few indeed drink products which are certified halal from the MUI. Only about 20 percent of the total that have been certified halal by the MUI. Well, maybe if the count is calculated from the millions, only a few thousand that have been certified halal," said Lukman.

He added that the MUI itself does not require the entire beverage producers to have halal certification. "MUI itself does not require all manufacturers of beverages to have kosher certification, but we expect awareness of the producers to report and submit to the MUI manufacture halal certification for its products. In order for society, especially the Muslims, no longer be worried and confused where the drinks are halal and haram, "said Lukman.

To obtain the halal certification label from MUI, beverage manufacturers must go through several procedures. First, manufacturers must perform registration or registration of the product to LPPOM MUI. Once registered, LPPOM MUI will perform audit review and evaluation of these beverage products.

Based on the audit results, the MUI will issue a fatwa if the product is halal or haram. Finally, only then will be issued certificates of lawful if based on the product's fatwa was declared kosher. Not finished there, the producers of products that have been certified kosher beverages were still must renew their certificates of halal products periodically every two years.

Among the many well-known beverage brands that consistently maintain the quality of halal products are Extra Joss. Beverage product is reportedly also the first beverage products that apply and obtain the halal certification of non-alcoholic beverages from the Indonesian Ulema Council.
