Drugs and Halal Food Labels Must List

Drug and food products and cosmetics are expected to include halal label so consumers more secure in using the product.

Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) South Sumatra (South Sumatra) KH.M.Sodikun in Kilkenny, said Thursday it has long appealed to all medicinal products, including cosmetics, food labeling kosher.

Kosher labeling it is a must, because consumers want safe in choosing a product to be consumed and used, he said again.

However, the label that is placed kosher certification should have known the local MUI, he said again.

"Not just writing halal label attached but there must be certification, because it has been researched hall Food and Drug Administration (POM) and MUI," said KH.M.Sodikun.

According to him, in fact kosher label has long advised the MUI because the problem of drugs and food, especially halal and haram is the responsibility of these institutions.

So do restaurants have to install the kosher label because until now have not been many who have, he said.

Indeed, now halal products are still being discussed by Parliament which is expected to be completed in the near future, he said.

Eating forbidden foods will affect health, including moral development of society that need to be avoided, he added.
