"According to data LPPOM MUI not one drug that circulated in Indonesia certified kosher. No one has applied for certification as well," he said when opening a seminar on the importance of provision of lawful drug product in Jakarta, Wednesday (31/3/2010).
In the list of kosher products LPPOM MUI edition in March 2010, there are actually five products in the group of medications that are listed are certified halal. But mostly only in the form of products and gelatin capsule shell capsules.
Lukman said he did not know for sure, why drug manufacturers do not want to submit the request kosher certification. Whereas socialization on this issue already done LPPOM MUI.

He said a large pharmaceutical manufacturer may not encouraged to make kosher products and kosher certification to apply for this product because as long as society is also not so concerned with medicinal products halal.
Most people, he explains, still regard the drug as a product that is only used in emergencies, so that the halal materials and the manufacturing process is not considered a problem.
